The Library will kick off its annual Friends-sponsored Banned Books Week (Sunday, September 23 - Saturday, September 29) at a public reception in the lobby on September 21 at 7:00 p.m. This special after-hours event includes the display of original artwork inspired by books and authors that have been banned or challenged.  You will be able to meet the local artists and celebrate the opening of the exhibit.  There will also be refreshments, a silent auction of the seven winning pieces of original artwork, and complete sets of this year's banned book trading cards.  Friends members will be selling a variety of banned books as well as sets of past years' trading cards.
